Video & Sound
Art 208: Real & Recorded Time broadly asks students to begin thinking about how time is an element in their artmaking. They compose in time, their audiences experience in time, so how is time captured and experienced? Specifically, they investigate the element of time through projects that incorporate video and sound.
The Research/Collaborate project involves a researched presentation and artwork inspired by an artist who incorporates video and/or sound.
The Sonic Space project explores sound as a medium, and how it can be used to create an environment. Students collect isolated found sounds from a site of their choosing. They then reconstruct these sounds to create a new sonic space that reinterprets the original site.
